The Lead APP serves as an Advance Practice Professional, practicing medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center.  This position provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

Position Highlights:

§  Serves as an intermediary between GU Surgical, GU Medical Oncology, GU Procedural and Inpatient APPs and the GU APP Supervisor, Senior Director of APP Services, Clinical Director and Program Chair in collaboration, development, communication and implementation and monitoring of a broad range of initiatives, tasks and projects as directed by the Department, this includes: Focus on Team Education and Onboarding: including identifying and enacting strategies to improve education and skills among all subsets of the GU APP cohort (surgery, medical oncology, inpatient, outpatient, first connect, procedural APPs); Implementation and development of clinic initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance/improve education; Assistance with templates and APP schedules/coverage, Employee related issues, Mentoring and orienting APPs and Problem-solving clinical issues.

§  This position acts as a liaison between the all of the Genitourinary Oncology APPs and GU APP Supervisor, additional GU APP Leads, as well as upwards program and APP Leadership. This position will work with all GU Attending Physicians and continue their clinical practice as current. 

§  As a medical provider that is not a physician, but is licensed to diagnose and treat patients under the supervision of a physician, the Lead APP assists physicians in the evaluation, management and treatment of patients.

§  The Lead APP is involved in a wide spectrum of patients with different medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities.

§  This position works independently within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

§  The APP Lead will have 10% protected effort in order to perform the duties of the position.

Credentials and Qualifications:

§  Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred

§  Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse program

§  Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and national certification by the appropriate accreditation body

§  Active BLS and ACLS

§  Minimum one (1) year experience as an Oncology APP provider and minimum of six (6) months in current specialty required.

§  Has served in a leadership role in a program or hospital wide committee preferred.
