If so, organization 03731, Occupational Medicine, is seeking an Occupational Medicine Physician to provide medical care to Sandia National Laboratories employees through the Health and Wellbeing Operations organization.Working here means you will be making a difference and working alongside peers who are committed to the same work!

On any given day, one may be called upon to:

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Perform pre-placement, occupational surveillance or certification, termination, and fitness for duty physical exams
  • Provide administrative oversight of select health programs and contribute to the coordination of care with case managers and benefits consultants
  • Provide diagnostic assessment, treatment, and referral as required for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries
  • Perform medical surveillance or certification examinations, interpret diagnostic tests and data, prescribe medications, and make independent health care assessments and referrals
  • Lead the medical team; collaborate with occupational health nurses, registered nurses, and medical assistants
  • Support quality assurance and accreditation processes
  • Consult on medical activities at remote sites

This position potentially allows for a flexible work schedule. There are no on-call needs.

The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • An Advanced degree (MD or DO), plus 3 years clinical experience
  • Licensed to practice medicine in NM or have the ability to become licensed to practice medicine in NM
  • Board certified or board eligible in Occupational Medicine, Family Practice, Preventative Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with occupational health surveillance programs and exams
  • Board certified or board eligible in Occupational Medicine
  • A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certification or the ability to gain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of and experience in general medicine and medical practice, with an emphasis on occupational aspects of various primary care and general medical problems
  • Knowledge of and experience with patient advocacy, including the protection of patient health information
  • Knowledge of wellness center or health promotion principles, programs, and practices
  • Certified in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in researching medical literature, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting medicine
  • The ability to interpret and apply regulations in daily operations, conceptualize and communicate to all levels of personnel, and prepare and present technical and nontechnical medical reports
  • The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values

About Our Team:

The Occupational Medicine Team is a multi-disciplinary healthcare team that serves to protect the health and safety of Sandia Laboratory workers, ensuring fitness for duty while mitigating risks for the organization.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$166,700 - $283,600

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
