As a Research Engineer, you will assume responsibility for planning and implementing a variety of complex assignments. You will analyze, investigate, and plan specific engineering criteria, characteristics and features to meet assignment goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine engineering investigations in support of current research or product development efforts using engineering software analysis tools.
  • Prepares design sketches or drawings for components, sub-assemblies, processes or equipment using CAD or 3-D solid modeling software.
  • Assists with the design, development, and evaluation of prototype medical devices, equipment, and software.
  • Assists with preparation and evaluation of test protocols and test specimens.
  • Prepares charts, graphs and documentation in support of articles for publication, project reports and grant applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in biomedical/mechanical/ electrical engineering or related field required.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience and co-op or internship preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20  pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $27.65

Maximum hourly: $42.17

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
