Respiratory Therapist II-Per Diem-Nights

We are hiring a Respiratory Therapist II! The respiratory therapist is a vital member of the healthcare team, contributing to the treatment and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Their responsibilities include collecting and analyzing sputum, blood, and breathing specimens to assess oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gas levels. Additionally, they administer treatments prescribed by physicians to address abnormalities related to breathing processes.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Set up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician charts treatment, response, and progress.
  • Observe patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.
  • Record observations and services and completes patient records.
  • Respond and assists with basic life support in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation emergencies.
  • Participate in fire, safety and other training programs conducted within and outside of the medical center.
  • Perform EKGs and arterial blood gases.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety.
  • Assess and documents patients’ condition on ventilators to include ETT tube placement, cuff pressure (if appropriate), breath sounds, respiratory effort, color and any noted treads in secretion, pressures, etc.
  • Assess and documents patients who are receiving respiratory treatments prior to and after treatment.
  • Assess and provides patient and family education for every patient who received initial treatment, 02 therapy, procedure, or placed on ventilator. Evaluates patient’s or family members’ responses on the new interdisciplinary patient and family education flow sheet.
  • Access medications from medication room within scope of practice and according to proper protocol. Access in automated medication dispensing cabinets will limit access to certain drugs.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, workshops, and in-service meetings, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with quality assurance standards in related field of expertise.

Your qualifications should include:

Minimum education and experience:

  • As required for certification and licensure
  • Two years Respiratory Therapist experience

Req. Certification/Licensure

  • California Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP) or
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
  • BLS through the American Heart Association

Pref. Certification/Licensure:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Additional Language:

  • Hourly Per Diem Rate: $50.80

Pay Rate: $37.40 - $56.09 / hour
