LVN II - Precision Medicine

The Precision Medicine LVN is responsible for consenting eligible patients and enrolling them on the Precision Medicine study, collecting IRB labs via peripheral blood draw or saliva collection,delivers and manages biospecimen kits for collection and shipment,all while ensuring compliance to the research protocol and all appropriate regulations. Will have an active role in patient recruitmentand will collaborate with all the multidisciplinary physicians and clinic staff at their assigned site to provide assistance to potential and enrolled patients for the Precision Medicine study. Serves to educate patients and families on the precision medicine study and required testing. Responsible for complete and accurate documentation.

Assists with study management to ensure patient satisfaction and understanding of protocol requirements is met.Worksclosely with, and under the supervision of, the assigned Clinical Research Nurse (CRN).Expected to maintain a system for effective consent and research activity tracking in collaboration with the CRN, along with responding to any requests for data clarification.Shouldhave basic knowledge of medical terms,be a quick learner, becomfortable and effective when communicating professionally with a diverse group of patients, as well as with the internal study team.Must have the ability to work independently, in a team, and be able to adapt to new situations with ease.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Play an active role in recruitment and enrollment of patients to study
  • Routinely performs peripheral blood draws for the collection of IRB labs
  • Works closely with the assigned Clinical Research Nurse (CRN)
  • Shipping and packaging samples
  • Performs protocol specific duties as required per the research study
  • Maintains current and accurate protocol documentation
  • Assists with scheduling of patient lab appts
  • Ensures work environment is organized and functions efficiently
  • Performs other administrative duties in the management of the study as assigned
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Identifies and communicates important protocol consenting issues or problem areas to supervisor.
  • Provides staff relief as required to meet the needs of the department.
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Completion of a licensed vocational nursing program
  • 1 year of work experience as an LVN in a medical environment.
  • Current LVN licensure in the State of California. Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification
  • This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $29.33 - $43.99 / hour
