What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Manager, Audit - Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) / Safeguards & Security (S&S) to join our team.The Audit Advisory Group 850 is seeking an individual to lead and manage the ES&H/S&S Internal Audit department to provide assurance and advisory services aligned with Sandia’s strategic management objectives to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve an organization’s operations. This is accomplished by providing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and recommend improvements to operational, risk management, control, and governance processes involving to Sandia’s environmental, health, safety and security programs.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Work cross-functionally with Sandia management to develop, implement, and execute an annual audit plan based to mitigate enterprise-wide risks.
+ Oversee a team of professional internal auditors with diverse subject matter expertise to evaluate and recommend improvements in technical audit areas involving ES&H and S&S.
+ Interact with all levels of management, audit clients, and with the Department of Energy (DOE) / National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Officials on matters associated with audits, risks and advisory services.
+ Connect the work and expertise of the organization with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and stakeholders, including partnering with various laboratory risk and assessment groups.
+ Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements.
+ Guide and manage members of the workforce, within the organization, including hiring, professional development, and assessment and performance management, consistent with mission of the organization.
+ Counsel and assist employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy contractual compliance, and Sandia National Laboratories' policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
+ Evaluate and recommend innovative approaches to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications We Require:
+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience, plus, (8) or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
+ Two years of supervisory experience.
+ Working knowledge of Sandia's ES&H and S&S regulatory environments.
+ Proven ability to work as part of a diverse team to meet organizational mission and objectives.
+ Knowledge and application of auditing principles and professional standards.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.
+ Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Professional experience and/or a Master’s Degree or higher in environmental science, safety management, industrial engineering/hygiene, audit, accounting, risk management or related field.
+ Professional experience performing and/or overseeing audits or assessments.
+ Professional certification in environmental science, safety management, industrial engineering/hygiene, audit, accounting, risk management or related field.

Independent Audit and Advisory Services is an integral part of Sandia's risk management strategy. We use a systematic, disciplined approach to conduct audits and advisory services aligned with Sandia's strategic management objectives, our company's core values, and known best practices to provide assurance to Sandia management and the Board of Managers. We also facilitate audits and inspections conducted by external oversight entities and track and communicate status of those engagements to Sandia management.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
