Summary

The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology in the Department of Medicine is searching for a fresh college graduate to be a part of Dr. Loning Fu's lab. Technician will participate in research projects studying the mechanism of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and obesity-related liver cancer. The position is expected to provide both research experience and credit to prepare the candidate for the future studies. Highly motivated applicants with a clear long-term career goal in biomedical research or medicine are encouraged to apply. The position will be located at the Main Baylor Campus and is a full-time on-site position.

Job Duties

  • Supports multiple ongoing translational research projects to define the mechanism of obesity-related liver cancer. 
  • Conducts animal behavior and phenotype studies, data organization and recording. 
  • Performs PCR genotyping for animal colonies maintenance.
  • Works on isolating tissue, blood and urine samples for studying obesity, fatty liver disease and liver cancer. 
  • Assists post-docs and graduate students in research using state-of-art techniques that includes protein and RNA studies, tumor and DNA isolation and genotyping, immunoassays, plasmid construction and cell transformation, and lab management.
  • Works on purchasing orders, equipment maintenance, and lab organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with molecular techniques that includes PCR genotyping, ELISA.
  • Be organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
