Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant II to join our Parkinson's Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic (PDCMDC). This position will perform patient care and administrative/support responsibilities in an ambulatory setting. The candidate will participate as part of our PDCMDC team in providing high-quality patient care.

 

We are looking for a team-player who is eager to join a fast-paced group of providers.

Job Duties

  • Rooms patients for PDCMDC providers, collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the electronic medical record.
  • Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs.
  • Completes medication refills and completes prior authorizations.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments.
  • Conducts patient outreach phone calls and post-visit follow-ups.
  • Manages in-basket messages.
  • Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals.
  • Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork.
  • Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtains lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
  • Sets up instruments and equipment for Physician.
  • Administers medication under direction /order of a supervising Physician.
  • Instructs Patients on general care and medical procedures.
  • Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General neurology experience.
  • Experience with prior authorizations.
