We have been embarking on an ambitious initiative aimed to remake the process of scientific discovery by enhancing research, development and commercialisation with artificial intelligence. From the formation of a hypothesis to the design and running of an experiment, AI can both accelerate and alter the process of inquiry.

We are looking for a systems architect and integration lead who will help develop a suitable architecture framework that will allow us to easily integrate the various speculative systems built by our creative technology teams. You will also need to be comfortable learning, adopting and adapting to a wide variety of bleeding-edge AI systems and a rapidly changing landscape.

Your duties will include:

  • Design, and participate in developing product-grade systems architectures for hosting as well as integrating AI systems.
  • Design product-grade information architectures and develop libraries and tools allowing for integration of AI systems at the operational as well as at the semantic level.
  • Develop strategies for and actively participate in the adoption of the above architectures by diverse cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Work collaboratively and honestly with internal and external colleagues, clients and partners.
  • Maintaining high ethical and performance standards.
  • Adhering to the spirit and practice of CSIRO’s Values, Health, Safety and Environment plans and policies, Diversity initiatives and Zero Harm goals.
  • Other duties as directed.

Location: Melbourne VIC, Brisbane QLD, Sydney NSW, Canberra ACT

Tenure: Specified term of 3 years

Essential Criteria

  • Experience and proven track record of designing and implementing product-grade information and analytic centric architectures.
  • Experience with information integration technologies.
  • Working knowledge of AI fundamentals and technologies.
  • Strong communication skills, as well as a proven track record to successfully work with diverse cross-disciplinary teams.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters to achieve desired results

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a research environment
  • Experience with semantic fundamentals and technologies
  • Experience with platform architecture, design and economics
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Experience or knowledge of cyber security concepts and best practices
