NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

If so, you could be the Physical Security Manager we are seeking to join Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) dynamic Technical Security Systems Department. As the Physical Security Manager you will direct and lead staff in support of the Safeguards & Security Center Strategic Objectives.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Coordinates employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition and disciplinary actions.
+ Ensure that customer needs are satisfied by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements.
+ Balances the acquisition and development of staff, resources, capabilities, for existing and future projects or programs.
+ Apply policy direction received from multiple external sources, which may include the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), DOE Intelligence and Counterintelligence Directorate, and Intelligence Community sponsors.
+ Manage the technical alarm, access control, and CCTV systems at SNL and remote sites.
+ Work closely with Protective Forces, Physical Security, Emergency Management, Counterintelligence and Local Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure Laboratory assets are provided adequate protection.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer, Mechanical), plus eight (8) or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance (and eventually an SCI clearance - which may require a polygraph test).
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Five (5) years of demonstrated leadership experience.
+ Master of Science degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer, Mechanical) discipline.
+ Expertise and competencies appropriate to the Technical Security Systems department and Safeguards & Security organization (e.g., Program Management, Assurance, Information Protection, Personnel Security, Physical Security Systems, or Classification).
+ Technical expertise and knowledge with electronic security systems: Alarm, Communications, & Displays, Intrusion detection, access control, and video systems.
+ Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following:
+ The roles within the department.
+ Management assurance or quality systems.
+ Leading and managing teams to produce high quality products on schedule in a dynamic and stressful environment.
+ Manage successfully and simultaneously (e.g., prioritize and delegate, etc.) tasks and programs within a high ambiguity environment and to establish a continuous process improvement/learning environment.
+ Motivate employees, manage personnel issues, and resolve conflicts.
+ Sandia's Leadership model and Sandia’s safety and security rules and guidelines.
+ Company policies and procedures and ability to recommend modifications and/or improvements to Sandia's Corporate Policy System operating policies.
+ Technical business development.
+ Problem solving and resolution techniques.
+ Physical protection of classified and nuclear material assets.
+ Application of formal risk assessment and/or system effectiveness methodologies in management of a project or organization.
+ Commitment to excellence in high-formality, highly regulated activities requiring formality of operations subject to audit and inspection.
+ Working within a direct funded program and interfacing with SFO, NNSA, and DOE
+ Workforce planning and team development.
+ Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiating skills, to include strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively develop trust-based working relationships with multiple internal and external customers and partners.
+ Ability to:

About Our Team:
The Technical Security Systems (TSS) department at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) provides a secure, robust, and sustainable electronic security system in support of Sandia's critical missions. The department is responsible for sustaining the security system at an acceptable level that meets Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. This is achieved by implementing high level standards and configuration control to the security systems followed by structured, preventive, and corrective maintenance processes. The TSS department interfaces and integrates with other departments within the Safeguards and Security Center which include Physical Security, Personnel Security, and the Protective Force. In addition to supporting the electronic security systems at SNL-NM, TSS provides program and technical support to several remote sites within the US.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
