What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking an Electromechanical Technologist in the Explosive Production department for assembly of components. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Execute internal manufacturing activities including MQ deliverables and experimental work + Perform resistance welding, laser welding, cleaning, explosive powder pressing, explosive handling, soldering and other hands-on operations + Support or implement corrective or preventive actions + Be involved with new process/equipment development and qualification + Perform initial diagnostics on nonconformances, monitor area health, identify ways to increase yields, and mistake proof processes + Seek out and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement + Implement new manufacturing technologies or equipment Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: + Associate’s degree in a STEM-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-issued ‘Q’ clearance Qualifications We Desire: + Active DOE-issued ‘Q’ clearance or DOD equivalent + Experience in a production environment applying rigorous processes + Hands-on experience in methods such as resistance welding, laser welding, leak checking, soldering, and powder pressing + Experience in laboratory operations conducting hands-on operations + Experience working in a flexible, team environment + Experience with hazardous operations + Background or experience in working with explosive technologies and engineering applications + Experience developing manufacturing processes + Good written and verbal communication skills About Our Team: The Explosive Component Production II Department (7557) produces energetic components that support deliverables for Sandia's nuclear deterrence mission. We also provide mission-enabling support to all of 7550, while innovating energetic component processes and production capabilities for the organization. We are responsible for production planning, product pre-acceptance, component production, and component production data entry and analysis. We oversee the construction of the Energetics Manufacturing Science and Technology (EMSAT) facility and its operational startup. Position Information: This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
