We are seeking a highly motivated Computing Infrastructure Solutions Architect (job title: Solutions Architect) and accomplished leader with expert level technical experience to join our team. The selected applicant will lead multi-disciplinary teams and high visibility projects such as storage implementations, hybrid cloud deployments, and infrastructure optimizations. You will covet wearing multiple hats to develop innovative solutions. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Apply expert level infrastructure knowledge across Windows, VMware, Azure Stack, Pure Storage, HP, 3Par, or EMC Isilon + Influence Bleeding Edge Tech + Cross-Site Influence (NM and CA) + Lead multi-disciplinary project teams in the advancement of new initiatives through application of the project management lifecycle + Build technology roadmaps and recommend new architectures in pursuit of more agile IT infrastructure + Oversee IT service management and operations including assessing key performance indicators The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or other relevant field plus 5 or more years of experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience + Demonstrated advanced experience across two or more of the following technical domains: Windows, VMware, Azure, storage, or automation + Technical leadership experience leading multifunctional teams, complex infrastructure projects, or critical IT services + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance Qualifications We Desire: + Effective project leadership abilities: able to plan and organize, as well as motivate others to achieve objectives within challenging timelines and situations of uncertainty + Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations with cross-functional experience across network, storage, compute, virtualization, cloud, and automation + Knowledgeable about collecting metrics, measuring systems, and interpreting data to make decisions + Passion for continuous improvement including identifying technical gaps and developing innovative solutions + Experience with infrastructure automation, scripting, and programming tools using Python, PowerShell, or other automation techniques + Adaptable with the ability to gracefully adjust to meeting changing circumstances, demands, and priorities About Our Team: Department 8553, Computing Infrastructure Solutions, provides enterprise level computing capabilities for Sandia/California, including platform and storage services. Our group develops and deploys virtual and cloud computing technologies to continually improve the agility, quality, and very nature of services for an increasingly mobile and collaborative workforce. The group also operates the CA data center and helps enable enterprise disaster recovery for Sandia. Position Information: This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
