Would you like to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues in the national defense and intelligence communities? If so, we invite you to explore this new and exciting opportunity in our organization!
The Electronic Systems Ops Department is seeking highly motivated antenna/RF design engineer to participate in the development of advanced RF systems, circuits, antennas and concepts for current and future national security applications.
The selected candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a dynamic teaming environment, sharing resources as well as programmatic responsibilities across the group. Skillsets vary broadly, including RF/microwave circuit and system design, antenna design, digital signal processing, embedded system hardware and software, digital system design, operational field-testing development/support, and program/project management. As a recognized expert in RF systems and applications, you will work with technical staff and management in developing strategies and roadmaps for RF electronic systems and space architectures.
Design challenges include highly miniaturized electronic system design, communication system architecture, ultra-low size, weight, and power (SWaP) hardware, ultra-low-noise receivers, and signal extraction/classification techniques in low Signal-to-Noise-Ratio environments.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Contribute to conceptualization, requirements development, circuit design, modeling/simulation, and product realization.
+ Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
+ antenna design,
+ RF/microwave circuit design,
+ RF/microwave system design.
+ Design, Prototype, characterize, and troubleshoot RF/microwave and antenna hardware in a state-of-the art laboratory facilities.
+ Provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance on mixed-signal (RF, analog, digital) electrical designs being delivered in operational systems.
+ Find innovative ways to enhance our processes and products.
+ Apply strong multi-disciplined team leadership skills, military acquisition and product delivery knowledge, and an understanding of rigorous engineering design processes to successfully address national security mission needs.
+ Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with interest and ability to interact with internal and external customers
+ Must have the ability to work both independently and on a team.
+ Some travel for technical interactions and field testing is required.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status and any other protected class under state or federal law.
