What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Engineering Program Lead - Weapons Modernization Hardware and Assembly to support the customer in defining and negotiating system requirements that enable mission function and performance. This position will include continuing to mature a hardware management system with full Program and Enterprise transparency that meets high-rigor requirements in support of system-level developmental and qualification testing. Plan and direct the executions of projects of the planning team. The team consists of five Production Planning and Control Specialists.
Define project objectives, deliverables, budgets, and schedules; acquire and manage resources for planning, tracking, and executing the project from initiation to close out; monitor cost, schedule, and performance; and incorporate systems engineering, configuration management, risk management, and quality standards into the lifecycle of the project.
Collaborate with Hardware Management and Assembly Teams, the Qualification Leads, PRTs, design and test engineers, project managers, hardware technologists, and managers to ensure hardware is identified, manufactured, and delivered in support of specific developmental and qualification test activities.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Provide leadership to apply standard principles across systems to ensure hardware production requirements are captured and appropriately scheduled with product realization teams and production agencies.
+ Collaborate with external partners to identify, document, and incorporate unique component configurations (Ex. Test-specific hardware configurations) into the MRS and ensure integration.
+ Provide leadership and tactical planning for the execution of projects to support the ability to maintain accurate databases.
+ Defines system and subsystem requirements, project scope, schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables that support mission objectives.
+ Partner with technical staff to review component and system hardware deliverables for Sandia's multiple weapon modernization programs such as the B61-12, W80-4, W88 ALTs, W87-1, & W93.
+ Participate in quality and peer reviews of database related products to ensure accuracy of the Material Requirements Schedule (MRS) and related reports.
+ Coordinate completion and archival of component and system hardware documentation.
+ Baseline the MRS for all programs and release reports.
+ Review and implement component and system hardware changes into the hardware schedule.
+ Team with management to ensure MRS related issues are shared and resolved.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.
Qualifications We Require:
+ Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, plus four (4) years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in stated field, plus eight (8) years of experience; OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience (in lieu of degree).
+ Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or DOD equivalent).
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Hardware management, logistics, or relevant production experience within a complex product- or systems-level environment such as nuclear weapons, satellite/space systems, or similar aerospace or defense area.
+ Experience organizing and leading small teams.
+ Strong analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to absorb and understand technical details related to hardware functions and pedigrees and apply this knowledge when addressing test specific hardware planning.
+ Demonstrated skill conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting hardware logistics.
+ Prior experience with nuclear weapon developmental hardware and understanding of NNSA's Hardware Management for Development Testing Processes.
+ Strong relational database experience (defining requirements, troubleshooting problems, developing custom reports, etc.).
+ Motivated to learn and be part of a fast-paced mission-focused team.
+ Experience using MS office suite, SharePoint, PDMLink, and PRIME.
+ Experience working with classified information, hardware, and accountable materials.
+ Demonstrated success in positions requiring concentration and attention to detail.
+ Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
About Our Team:
The Weapons Modernization Hardware and Assembly team is responsible for hardware planning, inspection and receipt, asset management, assembly and disassembly of assets utilized in NW modernization programs. Current weapon modernization programs that are supported by the team include the W80-4 LEP, W87-1 MOD, B61-12 LEP, and the W88 ALT370 &ALT 940. These are programs requiring close collaboration with many different departments within Sandia as well as with organizations outside of Sandia such as LANL, LLNL, NNSA, Production Facilities, and the Department of Defense.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
