What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a motivated and self-starting R&D Electrical Engineer to join the dynamic product realization team of department 7522 as a Production Engineer. You will work with a team of experienced personnel to take on challenging production assignments that others can’t, won’t or shouldn’t. Our team brings together a diverse set of skills and backgrounds to enable rapid production missions in close collaboration with our customers and partners. You will be responsible for overseeing process development, qualification, and full-scale production of concurrent product lines in a high paced and dynamic work environment. Work scope will require close collaboration with design, systems, testing, quality, acceptance, and procurement organizations. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Review design definition to provide manufacturability improvements and assess production feasibility. + Stand up, design, develop, characterize, and qualify new processes to meet Mark Quality requirements while meeting all safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. + Use engineering principles to research and innovate; to design and develop instruments, machines, processes, and technologies. + Perform structured problem solving to address urgent process or product issues. + Support assessments for new projects that include proposing scope, cost, and schedule. + Collect and analyze data to monitor key production metrics. + Identify opportunities to reduce yield loss, improve throughput, and lower product cycle times. + Consult with organizations cross Sandia to provide production expertise to teams supporting high impact ND missions. Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering, or relevant STEM field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. + Active DOE Q level security clearance or equivalent Qualifications We Desire: + Master's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering, or relevant STEM field + Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems and related business practices + Experience with product realization or process development + Experience providing technical support to manufacturing operations + Systems oriented person able to manage production processes and identify and mitigate associated risks + Ability to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to balance quality, schedule, and cost. + Demonstrated ability to monitor process health by collecting data, performing analysis and tracking using standard metrics. + Excellent time management skills and organization needed to manage multiple concurrent projects + Experience with Lean Six Sigma + Strong communication and presentation skills needed to effectively engage with partners, customers, and management of all levels About Our Team: Agile Production Solutions (7520), will integrate, adapt, and grow Sandia National Laboratories’ (SNL’s) new product realization capabilities to meet the evolving needs of SNL and the greater Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). Department 7522 is an integrated highly functional team that cooperatively tackles a variety of product realization challenges for the NSE and others. Position Information: This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
