The Space Control Strategy team is a small group of technical strategists, innovative researchers, and business development professionals focused on expanding Sandia’s research portfolio in the following areas: next generation flight demonstration systems, space cybersecurity missions, and space-based systems resiliency. Working with our key sponsors and business partners outside and inside of Sandia National Laboratories is core to the function of this role, so expect travel at least once a month to support these objectives. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline. + Eight years of experience in space systems development where at least four were focused on technical delivery in one of the following domains: + Next generation flight systems + Space cybersecurity missions + Space-based systems resiliency + At least two years of experience in program development, including identifying, developing, and realizing new project opportunities. + Experience with DOD and IC Space Missions. + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, or equivalent, which may require a polygraph test. Qualifications We Desire: + Advanced degree in a related STEM discipline (M.S. or Ph.D.) where an independent research project was a requirement for graduation. + Experience with remote sensing and/or space-based systems + Demonstrated interest and success in recruiting, hiring and developing/mentoring new personnel + Demonstrated business and political competence while interacting with customers + Experience executing and leading SCI and/or Special Access Program (SAP) level projects + Experience with developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives + Demonstrated ability to deliver results and effectively lead/guide hard-working, experienced technical staff + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Experience developing and presenting proposals to internal and external partners + Proven ability to build trusting relationships + Active DOE Q and SCI clearance, or equivalent About Our Team: We provide architectures and enabling technologies for pathfinding space-based solutions to national security problems. 6353's focus is on expansion and evolution of mission capabilities for the Space Mission Engineering Program and the Science and Technology Advancing Resilience for Contested Space (STARCS) internal research and development campaign. Responsibilities of 6353 are to foster research and develop solutions in the areas of Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Control (SC) and nurture strategic partnerships with various government agencies, universities, and industry partners operating and supporting space missions.
