What Your Job Will Be Like: This management opening represents a phenomenal opportunity to lead an organization within a growing part of Sandia’s mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical direction, customer interface, and personnel development for the 5232 Advanced Packaging and Integration department. In addition, the role will coordinate all internal research and development of assembly and environmental test needs and activities within Post-Fab Technologies, will represent the organizations’ deep subject matter expertise to Sandia’s various weapon system customers to support mission need and allocate resources to provide support to a range of projects within MESA. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Develop and implement R&D roadmaps and product realization processes which improve outcomes in Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and Integrated Deterrence & Defense (IDD) research, design, prototyping, technology maturation, and manufacturing initiatives. + Provide technical leadership, expertise and identify engineering resources for our ND and IDD mission. + Partner with internal teams to mature and support production assembly and environmental testing utilizing internal and external capabilities. + Engage Post-Fab Technologies’ Packaging, Testing, Logistics, and Supply Chain organizations in the development and production of next generation electronic prototypes and products. + Develop and ensure positive relationships with partner divisions, including organizations in 1000, 5000, ND systems, Sandia production, senior management and federal programs. + Maintain the implementation and adoption of enhanced research, business, and technical capabilities within MESA Post Fab Technologies. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 75% of the time. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s degree in STEM field plus eight (8) or more years of relevant experience or; + Master’s degree plus four (4) years of relevant experience + Three (3) or more years of demonstrated leadership experience as a principal investigator, product realization team lead and/or a department manager + Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance Qualifications We Desire: + PhD in STEM field + Experience with materials and interface properties common to electronics packaging (plastic encapsulated packaging, systems in a package integration, and/or chiplet integration) + Technical understanding of the physical phenomenon that predicts package lifetime and modes of failure, including packaging design, processing, and/or materials performance + Strong interpersonal skills in developing trust-based relationships among peers, staff, management, and customers in diverse team environments + Track record in creating competitive R&D proposals and sustained research funding + Familiarity with Realize Product Procedures (RPPs), NW Quality standards, and/or delivery of Mark Quality products + Experience in ND and/or NSP program development and sustainment. + Commitment to a safe working environment About Our Team: The Post-Fab Technologies organization is responsible for microelectronic packaging design, development, engineering, and production activities with applications spanning microelectronics, MEMS, photonic systems, and RFICs. The Post-Fab Technologies Group is part of Sandia’s Microsystems Engineering, Science, and Applications Center (MESA). This new organization will consolidate Post-Fab’s supply chain, planning, scheduling, and product realization functions to coordinate all in- and out-of-house packaging activities Posting Duration: This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the ‘posting date’.
