Job Description
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is immediately available at the Yam lab (Corneal Regeneration Lab) of the Mercy Vision Institute (Univ. of Pittsburgh, PA, USA) to work in the field of corneal stromal stem cells and the development of stem cell-based therapy to clinical trials for corneal scarring. The research will focus on studying the pharmacological and toxicological effects of GMP-grade stem cells in the context of cell safety and efficacy using established animal corneal injury models and will determine stem cell distribution, metabolism, absorption, excretion, metabolism, and tumorigenicity. Duties include GMP stem cell culture, in vitro biological and molecular characterization, in vivo corneal injury model treatment, ophthalmic imaging, reporting, and presentation.
A PhD or MD/PhD degree in a biomedical field with 0-2 years of post-doctoral experience, preferably in the field of stem cell cultures and translational animal models. Candidate needs relevant knowledge and skills in the biology of stem cells, basic immunology, cell, and molecular biology, and experience in cell culture, biologic imaging, flow cytometry and cell sorting, and animal studies, and with computer abilities and use of biostatistics.
