Job Summary

The position will primarily be responsible for case management and coordination of all aspects of clinical care and research data collection for children on investigational new drug clinical trials or single-patient treatment plans for the Pediatric Immunotherapy Program. This will include coordinating and scheduling of clinical services, working with insurance companies for approvals and prior authorizations, interacting with patients and families in clinic and by telephone for study purposes, documenting such interactions, coordinating care with off-site care providers, coordinating with research and data management staff for study-related activities and documentation, educating patients and families about specific studies and treatments, performing direct patient care, and other duties that may be necessary for clinical trial management and timely patient care.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:





Research and Care Coordination:
Coordinating medical records requests from outside institutions, follow up of record delivery, submission of outside records for scanning to PowerChart. Coordinating insurance approvals and pre-authorizations. Coordinating and scheduling of screening clinic visits, follow-up clinic visits, labs, imaging, ECGs, anesthesia, surgeries, radiation therapy, admissions, and other clinical services. Assisting with coordination of consent process and distributing copies of consents to stakeholders. Coordinating, scheduling, and communicating with off-site providers for clinic visits, ER visits, admission records, labs, imaging, anesthesia, surgeries, radiation therapy, and other clinical services. Coordinating and scheduling collection, pick-up, processing, and shipping of research biological samples, such as blood, plasma, tumor specimens, etc. with the research and data management staff. Cross-cover for other clinical research staff members.



Patient and Family Education:
Educating patients and families regarding the treatment regimens, including therapy calendars, expected side effects, timing of disease surveillance imaging such as MRI, health maintenance plans, supportive care, etc.

Communicating with Off-site Providers:
Communicating and coordinating with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, office staff, etc. to maintain information flow and on-site record keeping regarding off-site clinical events, lab reports, imaging files and reports, and other clinical data. Communicating with off-site providers to update them on patient status and events (professional letters, practice site notes, discharge summaries, lab reports, imaging files and reports, and other clinical data).

Recordkeeping:
Maintaining accurate patient medical records for coordination of patient screening questionnaire, regulatory and data management paperwork, and communicating with sponsor. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in patient research charts with regard to treatment delivery calendars (roadmaps), side-effect check lists, medication diaries, lab reports, imaging reports, and other clinical information and correspondence.

Patient Care Duties:
When necessary, patient care duties to include taking interval history, performing physical assessments, drawing blood for lab studies, accessing central catheters/ports, and documenting these activities in the patient medical record and where necessary in the patients research chart. Perform all other job-related duties that may not be specifically listed, but are necessary for trial management and timely patient care.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a specialized area; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

OR

Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia with a minimum of six years of clinical experience in a specialized area; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have a minimum three years of experience in delivering pediatric immunotherapy clinical trial care and services, including specialized clinical and research documentation. The research involves clinical trials, and they must adhere carefully to scheduling, plan of therapy, outcome assessment, adverse event monitoring, specimen collection, and other details of protocol.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

**This position is 100% grant funded.**

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 22

Salary Minimum: $64,553 - Midpoint: $87,147

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
