The Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with fellowship training in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Educate Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery residents and medical students in the OR, clinical office, and didactics.

  • Clinical/Patient Care: Care for Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery patients.

  • Scholarship: Perform research in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.

  • Other Duties: Shared responsibility for call coverage; All other related duties/tasks as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school required; Completed accredited residency program in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck surgery; Completed fellowship training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery; Board-certified or board certified eligible in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.

    Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training



    Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.



    Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
    • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
    • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
    • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
    • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
    • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.


    Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to travel 1%-24% of the time.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits

    This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.

    The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE.

    Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

    Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
