We are looking to add an experienced R&D Computer Science professional to our digital engineering initiative team to serve primarily in our Data Science Lead role. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in managing highly visible, multi-lab projects, that requires coordinating across disciplines of data science and other disciplines to meet mission needs. As part of this initiative, you will work in a highly multidisciplinary environment to develop the tooling and interoperability mechanisms that will make product engineering a truly digital process from beginning to end. Your efforts will affect improved collaboration, lead to faster development iterations, and facilitate data-driven decision making for other teams and departments at Sandia. Your responsibilities + Architect and lead the development of key aspects of the digital thread to support the connection of digital tools, automate manual process, and reduce the time it takes to go from concept to production. + Identify opportunities to leverage automation to improve the efficiency and reliability of our build and deployment processes. + Develop ontology-based digital tool integrations to enable Sandia’s digital engineering transformation. + Lead projects that result in the automation of manual design engineering processes to reduce review times and improve quality. + Work directly with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to identify areas where digital engineering can streamline and improve existing engineering processes. + Define long-term technical visions for existing and future platforms. + Develop an ontology assisted review tool to support reviews of 3D models in a human readable format. Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: + Master’s degree in Computer Science or related STEM field plus one year of experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience + Experience in Ontology Design and Development + Experience leading DOE and/or NNSA multi-lab technical projects + Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q security clearance Qualifications We Desire: + PhD in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience + Data Science Expertise including work with knowledge graphs, ontologies, and deductive reasoning engines + UI/UX design experience + Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, C, and/or Java + Experience working with databases such as MongoDB, neo4j, or other noSQL databases + Experience using CI/CD tools such as gradle, maven, Jenkins, gitlab, or docker + Experience using deployment platforms such as Ansible, Kubernetes, or Openshift + Experience with agile software methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban + Mature interpersonal and communication skills – capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders About Our Team: The Data Engineering and Analytics department provides innovative software solutions to support the nuclear deterrence mission through the architecting, engineering, development, and deployment of complex full-stack solutions and data systems that meet mission needs.
