Job Description
Summary
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory that specializes in the study of intrinsically disordered proteins, particularly those involved in stem cell biology and neurodegenerative diseases. This position is for a highly motivated, efficient scientist able to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Duties
- Performs basic molecular biology methods including cloning and site-directed mutagenesis.
- Overexpresses proteins for purification.
- Purifies proteins and characterize using a variety of biophysical methods.
- Searchs and evaluates scientific literature in support of research projects.
- Co-authors scientific papers.
- Effectively interacts with team members.
- Detail oriented and operate with a high degree of scientific rigor.
- Manages and maintain lab equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or a related field
- Some background in molecular and cellular biology
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Independent worker
- Should be familiar with spreadsheet and data analysis/graphing software such as Microsoft Excel and Origin, and proficient with the graphics program Adobe Illustrator, or other similar programs.
