Job Description

Summary

The successful candidate will work in a laboratory that specializes in the study of intrinsically disordered proteins, particularly those involved in stem cell biology and neurodegenerative diseases. This position is for a highly motivated, efficient scientist able to work independently and as part of a team. 

Job Duties

  • Performs basic molecular biology methods including cloning and site-directed mutagenesis.
  • Overexpresses proteins for purification.
  • Purifies proteins and characterize using a variety of biophysical methods. 
  • Searchs and evaluates scientific literature in support of research projects.
  • Co-authors scientific papers.
  • Effectively interacts with team members.
  • Detail oriented and operate with a high degree of scientific rigor.
  • Manages and maintain lab equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or a related field
  • Some background in molecular and cellular biology
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Independent worker 
  • Should be familiar with spreadsheet and data analysis/graphing software such as Microsoft Excel and Origin, and proficient with the graphics program Adobe Illustrator, or other similar programs.
