Job Description:The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for one (1) full-time Tenure Track Assistant/Associate position in the Department of Public Health Sciences. This is a 9-month appointment. The successful applicants will conduct cutting-edge research in health care inequities; health disparities; socio-structural determinants of health; community-engaged research; program evaluation; chronic health prevention and management. Individuals with strong methodological backgrounds, a commitment to public health equity, and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments will be preferred. Responsibilities include conducting and publishing scholarly research, seeking extramural funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate-levels course (including but not limited to Theories and Methods of Health Behavior, Program Evaluation), and service to the department, university, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is negotiable to start fall 2024. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supervising graduate students in research activities, excel at incorporating active-learning strategies in teaching, thrive in a bi-national setting, embrace the opportunities to work with underserved groups, and flourish in an independent work environment.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants will have: 1) earned doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; 2) prior university-level teaching experience; 3) commitment to or evidence of teaching excellence; 4) experience working in community settings; and 5) evidence of interdisciplinary research collaborations with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the required qualifications, applicants may have one or more of the following: 1) earned MPH or MSPH degree; 2) three to five years of relevant teaching experience; 3) knowledge of issues related to Hispanic health disparities; 4) experience in translational and/or interdisciplinary research; 5) experience working with clinical and/or community settings.

SALARY/BENEFITS: The initial salary is negotiable and based on qualifications and experience. The position includes a research start-up package and excellent fringe benefits.
