Position Purpose
The Lead Learning Designer (LLD) is responsible for creating, fostering, and supporting high-impact teaching and learning methods, ensuring well-designed and timely program delivery, including online programs. The LLD serves as a resource for project and program management, providing expertise and support while leading teams in developing new Master’s programs in Healthcare Administration and Engineering/Computer Engineering, both on-campus and online.

Join the emergent Learning Lab (LL) in Learning Design and Innovation (Dartmouth ITC), and help our team of learning and technology professionals to explore, design, learn, and share. Learning Designers at Dartmouth bring the best out of teaching and learning across a variety of modalities. Each project is different, but all involve working with faculty and working in teams that can include technologists, media producers, accessibility experts, and others. In LDI, we center equity, access, and experimentation in our work. Help us to shape the future of learning at Dartmouth College and beyond.

Learning Designers in the Learning Lab work on a variety of different projects and initiatives. Are you interested in accessibility, neurodiversity, and Universal Design for Learning? GreatI. You’d make an awesome addition to our Accessible Dartmouth Initiative partnering with Student Accessibility Services and the Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning to help faculty to reimagine their courses and contribute to programming on these topics. Are you interested in making engaging and innovative online learning experiences? Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelor's degree
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Advanced knowledge in Needs Analysis, UI/UX/LXD, Data and Evaluation, ID Theory and Practice, Accessibility/UDL, Inclusive Teaching Practices, and how people learn.
Knowledge and experience with instructional design practices, including backwards design.
Experience working, supporting, and teaching in Learning Management Systems.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for content authoring.
Ability to design and build quality face-to-face and online programs and courses.
Ability to partner with faculty to design student-centered learning experiences based on pedagogical principles.
Skill in recommending teaching technologies and strategies for student learning in collaboration with faculty.
Ability to lead course and program design projects effectively.
Skill in effective task and project management practices.
Ability to plan and manage projects and events under tight deadlines and quality standards.
Commitment to continuous evaluation, innovation, and improvement of online learning design methods, practices, and processes.
Familiarity with federal laws, ethics, and information security practices impacting educational tools (e.g., FERPA and accessibility).
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness in actions, interactions, and communications.
Excellent relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education.
6+ years of experience in learning design and faculty consultations in a higher education setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to partner with faculty to design and develop courses and programs that are student-centered and grounded in appropriate pedagogical principles.
Experience implementing and supporting educational technologies which effectively advance student learning.
Progressive experience in completing and managing projects and programs.
