Position Overview

The University of Kansas Institute for Sustainable Engineering is seeking a well-qualified Associate Researcher to support an industry sponsored research project focused in the areas of flammability measurements of refrigerant gases. The successful candidate should possess excellent experimental and analytical skills as well as strong oral and written communication abilities. On-site, Lawrence, KS

Job Description

Design and construct an ASTM flammability test apparatus -15%
Analyze and interpret results to calculate flammability limits for various gases at different temperatures and humidity levels - 15%
Present oral and written technical results to industry partners to convey scientific progress - 10%
Train new students and research personnel on experimental methods - 10%
Develop standard operating procedures and safety protocols for laboratory - 10%
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students conducting research projects - 10%
Data modeling and simulation - 10%
Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication - 10%
Be able to work in a hands-on, collaborative, and energetic environment - 10%

Position Requirements

This position is required to work on-site.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or Master's degree and 3 years of additional experience in engineering, physical chemistry, physics, or related fields.
Experience in designing and constructing experimental apparatus.
Experience with mentoring students.
