Position Purpose
As part of a newly developed shared resource, this position will perform tests and procedures to facilitate cancer related research in multiple laboratories calling upon various scientific techniques and skills. This position works under guidance from the Principal Investigator and is laboratory based, will routinely work with equipment, conduct tests, and maintain lab space and inventory.

We are looking for candidates across multiple roles and laboratory skill levels. Ideal candidates will have a combination of education and experience that makes them adept and comfortable in the laboratory as well as a willingness to learn and flexibility. Multiple candidates will be hired, and individual candidates need not be proficient in all techniques. This position is expected to hire two (2) candidates.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Education & Experience:
Associate’s degree with a major related to biological or chemical sciences or equivalent experience.
Plus, one to two years of related experience.

Skills & Knowledge:
Competence in basic laboratory procedures and equipment handling.
Ability to keep accurate records.
Well organized and conscientious.
Knowledge of computers and software applications.
Experience with animal handling and husbandry.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred, Bachelor’s degree with a major related to biological or chemical science or the equivalent experience.

Additional Instructions
Applicants should include a list of skills/techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, Western Blot, PCR, tissue culture/harvest, colony work, etc) and rank their proficiency and comfort in those areas. Key Accountabilities
Description
Experiments:
Establishes and performs routine tests required in support of laboratory work and experiments.
Prepares samples and media.
With guidance, assists with all aspects of experimentation.
Performs quality control checks.
May assist in surgical procedures.
Follows established safety procedures.
Percentage Of Time 50%
Description
Laboratory:
Maintains stock of supplies and reagents.
Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.
Performs general laboratory maintenance as required.
Percentage Of Time 30%
Description
Records:
Maintains accurate and detailed laboratory records of procedures.
Records experimental data from research using graphs, logs, charts, and statistical summaries.
May assist in preparing laboratory reports.
May perform limited library research and reference work for background materials.
Percentage Of Time 20%
