Job Description

Summary

A Research Technician position is open to work on a project exploring how the microbiome affects behavior and brain development. The technician will be in-charge to maintain several mouse colonies and will assist in performing behavior experiments and analysis of brain development. Duties will include animal husbandry, weaning of mouse litters, and ensuring animals are kept under sterile conditions.

Job Duties

  • Assists with maintaining humanized mouse colonies under sterile conditions.
  • Performs lab duties that include animal husbandry, weaning of mouse litters, and ensuring animals are kept under sterile conditions.
  • Works weekly to change cages.
  • Assists with ensuring the animals to receive sterile bedding, food and water.
  • Assists in molecular characterization of mice and microbiomes.
  • Assists in performing behavior experiments and analysis of brain development. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with handling mice is a plus.
