Job Description

Summary

The Moreno Lab at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center is researching the effects of evening screen media use on children’s sleep and circadian rhythms. We looking to hire a Research Coordinator I to coordinate the day-to-day operations of studies and clinical trials which include collecting participant data, monitoring research participants, and ensuring the safety of research participants. Applicants should be organized, able to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties

  • Carry out multiple facets of data collection with child research participants and their parents in the laboratory or home environment, executive functioning test administration, and record keeping.
  • Learn basic lab procedures, including assessment of circadian rhythms via salivary melatonin, behavioral sleep assessment tools, and tests of executive function.
  • Work a 40-hour work week across 4 to 5 days – not always Monday through Friday, sometimes Saturday and Sunday – on research protocols that involve evening or overnight data collection visits. Assistance can be provided to facilitate the adjustment to the work schedule.
  • Consent patients for study participation; explain process and procedures to educate participants regarding the research study.
  • Handle interviewing, screening, recruiting, and consenting participants, site initiation visits, interim monitoring visits and close-out studies, explaining processes and procedures to educate the participants regarding the respective research study.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, organization, and safety of research participants.
  • Collect participant information; process documents and enter information into a database.
  • Retrieve and submit study results to PI for review.
  • Correspond with participants throughout study.
  • Order supplies and equipment.
  • Process technology assigned to study protocol and works with multiple information systems such as REDCap, Access, and Excel databases
  • Compose and type study correspondence and other documentation.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled research and other staff meetings
  • Work with PI for grant proposal submission and progress reports; perform literature searches and draft literature review.
  • Assist in the writing of manuscripts for publication in peer-review journals.
  • Schedule research participants for tests and procedures specific for the research protocol.
  • Collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork according to procedures outlined in the study protocol.
  • Maintain records and regulatory documents and record for respective research studies to ensure compliance with IRB and other governing entities.
  • Job duties may vary according to the research protocol 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
