At Pfizer, we have a long history in infectious diseases research and development. Current portfolio includes products for COVID-19 as well as numerous other essential vaccines. Furthermore, in the upcoming years Pfizer is expected to launch several new vaccines in areas with high unmet medical need. Thus, we are expanding the team and searching for Medical Affairs Scientist colleagues.

As Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) you will have a key role in ensuring individuals and society can safely and effectively benefit from our current and future products through data generation, peer-to-peer interaction, and collaboration with external parties.

The role is about establishing assigned Pfizer product/s in the healthcare system optimizing patient outcomes using an external, scientific, and patient-focused approach in medical engagement, clinical research, data generation and co-creation of innovative solutions based on customer needs. 

The key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Assumes full medical responsibility for assigned Pfizer product/s in Norway. Develops and implements customer-focused medical strategies while identifying opportunities for co-creation with external stakeholders
  • Proactively identifies possibilities and activities to optimize patient outcomes in collaboration with internal colleagues and external partners
  • Acts as the scientific point of contact for HCPs and other scientific stakeholders. Leads medical to medical communication in the field and drives personalized interactions cross multiple channels while building enduring relationships with key stakeholders and institutions
  • Actively collaborates with Early Lifecycle Team, above-country colleagues, and external stakeholders on pipeline assets to evaluate impact, creation and execution of Early Lifecycle plans ensuring readiness at launch and across the entire product life cycle
  • Advances KOL and institutional involvement in Pfizer-sponsored research and initiates and enhances research collaborations with key customers
  • Responsible for Investigator Sponsored Research and grant related matters within the Business Unit therapeutic area
  • Advances Pfizer-sponsored clinical research in country in close collaboration with MAS Early Lifecycle and Clinical Research colleagues by proactively identifying local research opportunities and high-performing trial sites
  • Identifies data gaps for pipelines assets and actively collaborates with Medical Affairs Data Expert and H&V colleagues in efficient generation of value-based data strategies and plans
  • Identifies opportunities for customer focused digital solutions and contributes to their creation in partnership with MAS Digital Solutions
  • Provide medical input to the Business Units and contributes to company’s plans through actionable customers’ medical insights
  • Proactively builds strategic partnerships and strong collaboration with internal colleagues and effectively leads cross-functional teams
  • Contribute in Cross-Business-Unit Medical collaboration sharing knowledge, competence and best practice to build a strong and effective One Pfizer Medical community.
  • Provides innovative solutions, and routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives.
  • Is a key contributor to ensure company’s high ethical medical standards and compliance.
     

Your profile matching the MAS role:

  • Medical Doctor/Higher Academic degree (MSc, PhD) in relevant science area, with strong scientific skills and/or clinical experience
  • > 1 year of medical affairs experience or clinical or post-doc experience 
  • Ability to work in an international setting in a matrix organization
  • Deep Scientific knowledge and competence in the therapeutic area
  • Strong communication and presentations skills and ability to deliver scientific and strategic messages
  • Good knowledge of the national healthcare system
  • Fluency in Norwegian and English
  • Attitude:
    • Can perform most aspects of medical work independently 
    • Assume increasing involvement in glocal workstreams 
    • Has good external network in therapeutic area 
    • Assume involvement in glocal/local workstreams aimed at process optimization 
       

To be considered as a Senior MAS, you must in addition have:

  • > 3 years of medical affairs experience or > 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Clinical or post-doc or prior, relevant, substantial pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Business acumen and high level of industry understanding
  • Knowledge of the relevant and applicable Codes of Practice and regulations
  • Capabilities and attitude:
    • Key contributions to global workstreams 
    • Well-connected and respected in therapeutic area  
    • Substantial contribution to glocal/local workstreams aimed at process optimization 
    • Identifies strategic areas of improvement (data gaps, local processes) and proactively seeks compliant solutions 
    • Sound and senior understanding of the different local and international regulations, ability to judge on complex projects in a local environment and to advise more junior colleagues or colleagues from other areas. 
    • Shows leadership and ability to guide, assist and mentor others 
    • Autonomy, decisiveness and judgement necessary for independent decision-making 
    • Independently carries out local cross-functional work
