Job Description

Organizational Relationships:

Position Purpose:  

  • Coordinate Colleague Wellness Services for multiple sites in North America, including the Pfizer sales force.
  • Coordinate medical surveillance testing: random drug screening; accident / injury management; travel needs; facilitate return to work; implement wellness events; nursing guidance and in licensed state provide nursing care within their regulated scope of practice and management.

Required Experience/Education: 

  • BSN in nursing degree and current RN license in (state of employment)
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, or local public health regulations, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).  
  • Experience in implementation of Occupational Health and health hazard programs. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience in managing emergency health situations. 
  • Proficient in use of Cority and LeavePro Electronic Medical Record Databases
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an occupational nursing
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in work related case management and OSHA regulations
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in multi-state OSHA regulations related to medical surveillance and injury documentation.
  • Wellness care guidance and counseling of adults
  • BCLS certification required

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate remote site Colleague Wellness services, including medical surveillance, OSHA recordkeeping, medical treatment for work related emergencies, wellness initiatives and other activities as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and deliver oral and written communications effectively in fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates ability to manage competing priorities and maintain consistent level of high performance
  • Coordinate with local medical providers to arrange for occupational and non-occupational injury and illness care while communicating telephonically with all parties for evaluation and triage.
  • Obtains case specific medical information from the medical provider and evaluates colleague qualification for safe return to work or short-term disability benefits.  
  • Assures privacy while coordinating the flow of information with corporate Worker Compensation third party administrator, medical providers and the supervisor, safety or Px
  • Documents related information using Cority electronic medical record database.   
  • Responsible for communication with People Experience, site leadership, EHS, supervisors and colleagues to facilitate appropriate return to work; fitness for duty; reasonable suspicion; policy changes and implementation of wellness initiatives & other activities to meet the business needs. 
  • Proficient in case management to include fitness for duty, short term disability & ADA guidance and transitional restricted workers.
  • Strong understanding of Pfizer medical leave of absence policies including STD, FMLA, ADA and LTD.
  • Provides preventive medicine such as immunizations and wellness services/counseling; supports site health promotion and disease prevention programs
  • Documents patient data in Cority electronic medical database(s), as per standard protocols
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented

How You Will Achieve It 

  • Act as a liaison between medical specialists and Pfizer employees who need treatment and assistance. 

  • Communicate with HR, Safety, disability management team and site business groups to understand and advise on health issues impacting employees. 

  • Maintain records of persons treated, prepare accident reports data and maintain in a secure location, separate from personnel records. 

  • Complete the required Health and Safety audits in accordance with given schedules and continuously improve the Health and Safety management systems. 

  • Coordinate the medical results and monitoring of medical clearances of key medical findings.  

  • Ensure health related concerns are appropriately addressed for site and share  divisional best business practices. 

  • Assist in developing health programs to address the disease/s identified and implement controls for prevention of occurrence of the occupational diseases and hazards at the site.  

  • Maintain information necessary to ensure conformance and compliance with the requirements of Pfizer Standards. 

  • Assist in reviewing and developing government mandated programs for the workplace and other Occupational Health programs to ensure compliance. 

  • Support incident investigations involving exposures, potential exposures, failure of workplace controls to determine root cause and preventative actions. 

  • Conduct Health trainings for employees, including Stress Management and Wellness initiatives.

  • Able to intervene in emergency situations such as colleagues requiring CPR
