Job Description
Cabling Infrastructure Tech
Position Highlights:
- Install cable using safe practices in compliance with industry-appropriate standards and safety regulations. Install cable or fiber optics and analyze existing hardware to make recommendations appropriate to the company’s needs.
Responsibilities:
- Supports, manages, and maintains the Center's IDF cabling infrastructure, copper inside and outside plant and fiber inside and outside plant.
- Implements new copper and fiber inside and outside plants.
- Plans, installs and maintains copper core and fiber-optic cables supporting systems for command, control, communications, and computers
- Applies knowledge of industry standards and safety standards in pulling cable, fire-stopping, cable termination practices, splicing cable, testing cable, troubleshooting, and retrofit installations
Credentials and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in installation, administration, maintenance, testing and support of low voltage copper and fiber optic inside and outside cable plants
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with MDF/IDF build outs and various voice and data cabling infrastructure
- Proficiency with Fluke software, troubleshooting and testing tools
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of network cabling best practices for all medium including Cat5E, Cat6A, multi-mode fiber and single mode fiber optics, etc.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of documentation best practices within the cabling industry
- Experience with software packages like Microsoft Visio and CAD
