As a Transplant Coordinator II, you will coordinate all transplant program activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Triages patients during the entire transplant process for any medical and psychosocial issues.
  • Provides education to patients and family members regarding all aspects of transplantation.
  • Coordinates with the hospital unit personnel in the discharge of the transplant patient and donor.
  • Serves as contact person for pre-transplant evaluation for physician and/or insurance companies.
  • Coordinates all activities for organ acquisition including evaluation of donor work-up information.
  • Coordinates all activity related to organ transplantation including notification of patient that organ is available.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Master's Degree may substitute for two years of experience.

Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of four years RN experience and two years’ experience with organ procurement or transplantation including disease related experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
  • Must be willing to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
