Summary
Apple Maps is at the forefront of Apple's ecosystem supporting hundreds of millions of devices across the globe! The Maps Location Services team, craft, architect and design user facing features powering the device's intelligence through cellular and WiFi connectivity, privacy preserving geo-positioning or petabyte scale data processing and visualization. We are looking for a world class engineer to bring our platform to the next level and tackle the greatest challenges spanning massive spatial data, high traffic, low latency service design. As a key team member, you will be working and contributing to cross functional efforts with high visibility. The ideal candidate is versed on data structure and algorithm trade-offs, is well versed in distributed system design and understands telemetry and monitoring complex systems. It is a plus if you're keeping up with state of the art research literature in your domain.
Key Qualifications
  • A great teammate.
  • Must have experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable and reliable services.
  • Experience with large scale storage systems and indexing.
  • Excellent understanding of CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, complexity...) and concepts such as concurrency, parallelism and multi-threaded systems.
  • Comfortable optimizing low level kernel systems and diagnosing through system telemetry.
  • Real world experience using Hadoop, Spark, Zookeeper.
  • Comfortable in Java/C++ and one or more scripting languages like Ruby or Python.
  • Collaborative with an ability to thrive in a multi-functional organization through clear and persuasive communication, consistent delivery, and relationship building.
  • A metrics first approach to prioritizing and ensuring optimal use of resources.
  • Possesses curiosity with with the desire and aptitude to independently learn.
  • User focused with empathy for the user experience and an understanding of the criticality of data privacy.
Description
This is a highly visible position where you will collaborate with multi-functional teams to define, implement, and support systems that will power the next generation of services across Maps and beyond. You will be working on critical systems that support Apple services. You will work with world class teams who have a real passion for engineering and delivering features that scale while maintaining strong privacy guarantees to end-users.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or relevant experience.
Pay & Benefits
  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 and $242,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
