Biology Tenure Track Faculty
The Department of Biology (https://science.iupui.edu/biology/index.html) at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2023. Competitive salary and start-up funds are available. A Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience are required. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to initiate a research program that can attract external funding to sustain it, dedication to effective student mentoring and the ability to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates able to teach courses in microbiology, biochemistry and neuroscience are particularly welcome. Research strengths in the department span a range of topics in cellular, molecular, and organismal biology.
Candidates must be sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working in an academic community that is diverse regarding gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or identity, disability status, and protected veteran status. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statement of research (past, present, and future; up to three pages), teaching interests/experience (up to two pages) and a 1–2-page statement on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion when completing the online application. The Department of Biology has 24 full-time faculty members, over 750 undergraduate majors, and approximately 60 graduate students enrolled in Ph.D. and M.S. programs. IUPUI is Indiana’s premier urban public research institution with approximately 26,000 students and substantial research funding. The Department of Biology has a strong record of externally funded research, well-equipped research laboratories and several core facilities. With an extensive hospital system and the IU School of Medicine, IUPUI is home to a large and vibrant community of researchers and collaborators in all areas of biomedical science.
