Position Summary
The Information Security Senior Manager reports to the Sr. Director, Information Security (Chief Information Security Officer) and directs a team of information security professionals. The Sr. Manager will also serve as the Application Security Manager. This will include the development and management of core information security risk management processes for the identification, management and treatment of information security risk, as they relate to City of Hope critical applications (i.e. EPIC, PeopleSoft). The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, as well as a strong grasp of cyber security and application security.
Key responsibilities include:
Application Security (i.e. EPIC, PeopleSoft)
Web Facing Application Security
Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC)
Application Audit Liaison
Application Based Investigations
Entitlement Reviews
Enterprise Data Warehouse Security
Payment Card Industry – Data Security Standards Compliance


Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of the application security strategy
Lead the recruitment, hiring, and mentoring of application security team.
Develop COH’s application security strategy
Evaluation and communication of risk information / status to both technical and non-technical audiences
Manage all internal and external application audits
Develop and manage Info Sec’s contribution to the City of Hope’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan
Evaluate and test Information Security controls relative to applications and leads the development, enforcement, and maintenance of policies, procedures, measures, and mechanisms to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.
Will partner with constituents throughout the company to achieve strategic goals and ensure the appropriate balance is achieved between risk and controls.
Assists the CISO, department directors, division and program managers with the development and implementation of system-wide programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and agency regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of related professional level experience.
  • Eight to ten years of recent professional-level experience in information security, application security, and coordination in large organizations with multiple priorities; or equivalent combination of education and experience plus 3 years of experience in a lead/supervisory capacity.


Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree
  • CISM
  • Two or more years’ experience in healthcare research industry
