Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with exceptional technology-related information, products, services, and support.

Summary

The primary responsibility in this job is to provide project management to large, cross-team projects focused on the projects to automate/modernize clinical IT projects. It could involve project-level management of clinical level programs.

The goal is to complete projects on time, within budget, and with the high level of quality our customers expect from Health Information Technology and Services (HITS).

Responsibilities*

The Office of the CIO is looking for an IT Project Manager to provide project and program management for Information Technology initiatives. This role is primarily responsible for leading project teams in implementing new functionalities and improving existing functionalities of enterprise information technical solutions. This role will maintain and guide various teams with program roadmaps and facilitate program management over of a collection of related projects.

You will:

Have experience leading and delivering complex projects spanning multiple domains including software, infrastructure, and organizational change.
Be someone bringing the energy and commitment needed to guide projects forward to achieve success and organizational change.
Be equally at home explaining the progress and recommendations of our technologists to executive leadership as you are discussing the challenges in execution with the team on the ground.
Proactively seek training and knowledge related to the project domain, applying that knowledge to build credibility with key stakeholders.
Contribute to project deliverables.
Influence key stakeholders, decision makers and colleagues to ensure project goals are met.
Provide structure by establishing priorities and clear execution plans with measurable milestones.
Leads application technical team and the impacted Clinical operations teams to ensure end-user workflow design and all requirements are met and completed according to scope
Work with the project sponsors, applications technical team, clinical or business operations teams to develop Communication Plan, end-user training programs and/or guides, and Activation Plan to guarantee a successful implementation in a complex, clinical setting
Under direction, you will provide project management needed for managing large and diverse division within the Michigan Medicine Health IT structure. You will be responsible for the management, performance, and completion of assigned projects, which may be complex and cover scope to engage multiple teams, and potentially multiple HITS divisions and/or Michigan Medicine departments. This includes managing demand through prioritization. You will help with all phases of project management from initiation, development, implementation, and transition to operations. You will develop detailed work schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports, and conduct project meetings and manage project tracking and analysis.

You will prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence for management review. You will assist with portfolio management including staffing plans, project lists, and the like, to use for division-wide prioritization and commitments.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three or more years of project management experience
