We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join a growing team building the next generation of software to improve surgery and patient outcomes. At the Society for Improving Medical Professional Learning (SIMPL) you will be leading the team that is designing and developing for our iOS, Android, and AWS and React Web applications. You will lead a team of engineers and product managers to ship real product features to thousands of users globally. We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work autonomously with high levels of quality communication and craftsmanship.

About the Society for Improving Medical Professional Learning

Organized as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, the SIMPL collaborative now encompasses over 195 medical residency training programs in 19 different specialties in 7 countries, all of whom share a common vision to support continuous improvement in the medical education system. We are a small non-profit that lives within the hiring system of the University of Michigan, which allows our team to have the flexibility of a small company with the benefits package of a global leader in higher education. The SIMPL team is primarily remote and has flexible working hours, ample time off, and a streamlined agile development process.

Responsibilities*

Manage and monitor performance of software development team (4 FTE) and help set goals for team members
High-level design and planning for software, including determining software design standards, methods, and testing procedures
Software development
Progress reporting and representing development team to outside stakeholders
Required Qualifications*

4+ years of experience as a software engineer
Bachelor's degree
Excellent communication skills and can clearly articulate your ideas, designs, and suggestions
Demonstrated success planning, designing and launching products.
A team leader who can collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Experience with project planning and reporting
Desired Qualifications*

1 + years of experience in the medical education space
Experience with the pragmatic marketing framework
Experience with software testing
Experience in managing complete product lifecycle
