What You'll Do

The Lead Health Data Analyst will have primary responsibility for health and welfare plan analysis, model impact plan changes, plan design research and analysis and report design. Reporting to the Benefits Manager, you will be a primary user of the integrated claims data warehouse comprised of medical, prescription drug, dental claims, demographic data, and wellness participation data. You will provide analytic support for the Benefit Administration Office, benefits related committees, and other key University initiatives related to benefits.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Synthesize complex data from multiple sources into actionable information, supporting data-driven health benefit decisions by Benefits Office and University leadership
Assist the Benefits Office in research, evaluation, and presentation of potential programs to promote a culture of health and a cost-effective health plan.
Develop, update, and analyze standard dashboards used to monitor performance of the health plan, medical plans, and dental plans. Summarize and present insights.
Develop reporting and analyses of provider value-based payment arrangements between the Benefits Office and provider systems
Participate in medical benefit related committees
Model financial impact (cost and use) of new plan offerings, new plan designs and disease management programs
Provide statistics and established benchmarks regarding cost and utilization
Identify and research trends in health benefits and develop analyses to determine impact on University health plans
Prepare and present reports to internal and external stakeholders
Develop and maintain external vendor report inventory
Critically review external vendor reports to ensure they meet contractual agreements
Collaborate with external vendors to ensure incoming reports are presented in a clear and concise manner, providing in-depth analysis, key insights, and impactful interventions
Skills You Have

Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role requiring in-depth knowledge of health care benefits, and healthcare payment methodologies for both providers and payers
Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information to present simple and concise material to the appropriate audience
Minimum 2 years experience in database management, query writing software, querying relational databases, applying business process/data modeling, and other analytical tools/techniques surrounding financial and healthcare analytics
Demonstrated experience using IBM/Merative interface, MedInsight, Microsoft SQL Server and Tableau.
Knowledge of Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and quality metrics
