Summary

The Senior Certified Nurse Midwife is a strategically important position that will be responsible for building a program, recruiting, leading outreach, and overseeing clinical professionals.   This position will develop and stand-up a Certified Nurse Midwife high-risk practice that is coordinated with, and supervised by, the BCM Maternal Fetal Medicine Division.  

Job Duties

  • Create overall coordination and clinic policies that align with the Department vision.
  • Recruit new midwives into the practice
  • Manage and oversee a growing midwife team
  • Lead outreach to community to build referrals from family practice and other referring physicians and the community at large 
  • Develop protocols and processes for the team, including on interactions with:

o Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians to support high risk pregnancies
o In house Laborists
o Other mid-level provider

  • Provide midwifery care to obstetrical and gynecological patients in accordance with approved midwifery protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Midwifery or Nursing or related field.
  • Two years of relevant work in full-scope midwifery.
  • Current licensing as a Registered Nurse and status as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse-midwife by the Texas State Board of Nurse-Examiners.
  • Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of relevant experience.
