The University of North Alabama’s Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions (ACONHP) is seeking qualified full-time faculty at the rank of lecturer for the Director of Clinical Education for the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Program. Salary will be based on qualifications of the successful candidate. The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for assisting the program coordinator with the coordination and development of a new respiratory care program in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC) standards. The Director of Clinical Education will also be responsible for facilitation and administration of clinical aspects of the program.
Essential Job Duties
Teach 15 credit hours of undergraduate coursework per semester;
Research and write policies relevant to the Respiratory Care Program;
Assist with the development of respiratory care courses, including didactic and clinical;
Collaborate with faculty regarding clinical scheduling of students;
Teach courses as assigned by the program coordinator and department chair and provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings consistent with programmatic needs and departmental workload policies;
Supervise and provide training for clinical preceptors;
Coordinate with department faculty to ensure that individual clinical experiences and documentation are accurate, relevant, and current;
Serve as a point-of-contact for students, clinical supervisors, and preceptors/mentors regarding clinical placement/scheduling and procedures;
Maintain a collegial relationship with external clinical agency partners;
Recruit and advise respiratory care program students;
Maintain office hours in accordance with university policy;
Engage in professional service as well as service to the department, college, and university;
Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions;
Maintain student clinical placement records to determine that clinical requirements are satisfied;
Maintain ongoing spreadsheets of preceptor/mentor partnerships, academic records needed to produce required reports, summaries, surveys, and accreditation materials;
Assist in the preparation of program self-study documents and participate in accreditation activities;
Facilitate and document student experiential learning experiences;
Collaborates with college staff for verification of student required clinical documentation such as drug screens, background checks, health information, CPR certification, and liability insurance;
Assist with report distribution of clinical supervisor, student, and clinical site evaluations and surveys;
Assist with managing clinical agency contracts, including but not limited to:
Initiate new clinical agency agreements as requested by faculty and department chair;
Maintain accurate records of all clinical agency agreements;
Maintain accurate records of clinical agency utilization each semester;
Secure updated clinical agency agreements prior to expiration dates;
Maintain Alabama state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist and RRT credential;
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to organize, communicate, document, disperse, and implement agency contracts, clinical preceptor information packets;
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs and UNA campus technology;
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and electronic communications;
Ability to work independently without direct supervision;
Strong public relations and interpersonal skills;
Ability to interact effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students, faculty, staff, administrators, visitors, parents, and the general public;
Ability to travel, as needed, to clinical placement sites to observe student activities and teach clinical procedures as well as establishing and maintaining relationships.
Master’s degree is required;
Four years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required, with at least two years of experience in clinical respiratory care;
Two years of experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor, is required.
