Job Description
With dramatic increase in undergraduate and graduate enrollment, and a new building that allows us to expand, our award winning and nationally ranked (#15 in best undergraduate programs) Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department as well as the College of Engineering (ranked #21) at Rowan University are growing. To accommodate this robust growth, we seek innovative teacher-scholars, and invite applications for non-tenure track, full time teaching positions.The successful candidates will join our dedicated faculty for developing and teaching project-based courses in the ECE curriculum. Hence, we are looking for strong commitment to excellence in teaching with either a proven record, or an exceptional potential for developing innovative pedagogical approaches, courses, labs, and projects for a modern ECE curriculum.
Applicants with expertise in all fundamental areas of ECE are invited to apply, however, our greatest needs are in the following areas:
Digital and embedded systems,
Circuits & Electronics
Computer architecture,
Control systems,
VLSI design and
Electromagnetics.
The Department greatly values experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and provides state-of-the-art equipment, instruments, rapid prototyping, fabrication and computational resources to support such activities. Our dedication to project-based learning is reflected in our curriculum, as all our courses have lab/project components. As a result, we seek individuals who share this dedication, have the skills and passion to develop and deliver innovative hands-on lab projects and other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools. The position also includes service responsibilities, such as helping with the Department’s assessment activities. Therefore, any experience with assessment, pedagogy and scholarship of engineering education would be very valuable. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved with student projects in the Rowan Engineering Clinic sequence, and – if interested – contribute to the scholarly activities of our faculty and students.
Summary of responsibilities, then, include:
teaching core and elective ECE courses;
developing innovative curriculum components, including new courses in emerging areas;
mentoring and advising students, as well as student groups and clubs;
helping with Department’s assessment;
contributing to our service activities to further our collective mission and vison at the department, college and university levels.

Applicants must have earned at least a Master of Science degree, preferably a PhD, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline. Ph.D candidates who are in their last year of study, and hence are “all-but-dissertation” are also welcome to apply. The appointment is non-tenure-track, with renewable multi-year contracts, based on performance, departmental needs and university and budgetary approvals.
