The Applied Materials Division is seeking a candidate for Senior Materials Scientist position in the area of electrochemical energy storage materials. The preferred candidate has to have a proven track record of accomplishment in both scientific achievements in materials for battery technology development as well as in managing cross-institution collaborations and industrial partnerships and mentoring graduate/postdoctoral researchers and technical staff.
The candidate will work with a team of material scientists and process R&D researchers to support the group effort to use data-driven, scientific approach in developing novel materials for energy storage and use advanced characterization and performance validation tools to correlate the relationship between materials properties and manufacturing processes. Publish papers, give technical presentations at workshops and conferences. The focus of the group is on process R&D and scale up of advanced materials.
PhD in condensed-matter physics.
10+ years of experience in battery program development and management
Outstanding knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas: battery technology development, process design and development for materials synthesis/processing, electron microscopy and X-ray characterization, electrochemistry/chemical analysis.
Experience in materials process R&D and scale up.
Ability to communicate effectively and on a timely basis with the laboratory supervisory personnel on all developments or matters resulting from laboratory work activities.
Ability to maintain organized notebooks and project files.
Ability to be a team player.
