The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine has an opening for an Ophthalmic Photographer at their medical center location.  The Alkek Eye Center is located within the Lee and Joe Jamail Specialty Care Center building situated on the McNair campus.  It is a large, high volume clinical practice offering all eye services from licensed Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in all ophthalmic sub-specialties.
 

The Ophthalmic Photographer is a technical position that will work closely with the physicians, medical staff, and patients to assist in optimizing clinical flow by completing various diagnostic imaging and patient workups.  Individuals must be able to multi-task in a fast paced, high volume medical environment.  An ideal candidate's skill set should include, but not limited to experience as an ophthalmic technician with experience in a clinical setting, visual acuity, distance and near, refracting, applanation tonometry, pupil exam, and confrontation visual fields, ancillary testing is a plus.

Job Duties

  • Photographs fluorescent angiograms.
  • OCT/auto fluorescence.
  • Performs IOL calculations.
  • Performs Ultrasound biometry and sonography.
  • Takes slit lamp photography.
  • Takes simultaneous stereo and individual fundus photography.
  • Injects dye for fluorescence in angiography.
  • Conducts color vision testing.
  • Performs endothelial cell counts.
  • Topography.
  • Travels to satellite offices.
  • Orders supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) certification.
