- Contribute to research to drive sustainability and improve nutrition outcomes
- Join CSIRO – Australia’s leading scientific research organisation!
CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
This Postdoctoral Fellowship is part of the CSIRO-UQ FEAST Initiative. The overarching vision of the Food Environment Agricultural Systems Transformation (FEAST) Initiative is to help build a new and better-informed national conversation on food system transformation that is inclusive of different stakeholder visons, ambitions and values and identifies a diversity of solution pathways to Australia’s food system futures.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will develop some of the evidence base and associated tools needed to establish current nutritional, environmental and social performance of different domains of the food system, monitor and report these, and help identify how these footprints have changed, are changing and will change into the future – which creates a profile and narrative that reflects the dynamism of these systems. They will work closely with a multi-discipline team of CSIRO and UQ researchers and the other three fellows and will focus on: Constraints and barriers to change; Drivers and solutions that promote change; and Re-envisioning food systems.
Your duties will include:
- Develop an evidence base describing the current nutritional, environmental and social performance of up to 3 domains of the food system (to be determined by analysis), monitor and report these, and help identify how these footprints have changed, are changing and will change into the future.
- Develop a landscape assessment framework that outlines current opportunities by geography/scale and domain with potential outcomes for nutrition, environment, equity.
- Identify priority areas for the FEAST Initiative to pursue in partnership with industry and government.
- Develop outputs such as research papers, reports, and communication pieces in translational publications such as The Conversation (with support from UQ/CSIRO communications).
