Job Description


The laboratory of Dr. Brian York, which is research is focused on Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase Kinase 2 Regulates Hepatic Fuel Metabolism, is seeking to hire a research assistant.  The position would principally involve carrying out experimental work using previously-developed protocols. The candidate is expected to report on assigned projects to team leaders in a timely manner.  

Job Duties

  • Operates all the instrumentation needed for the projects (training will be provided as needed).
  • Documents experimental procedures in precise details.
  • Collects and compiles imaging data.
  • Prepares reagents and solutions and performs experimental work as needed.
  • Troubleshoots problematic results.
  • Interacts and report to the CAMII team.
  • Maintains core laboratory organization.
  • Monitor lab reagents.
  • Orders supplies.
  • Focuses on the primary project on Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase Kinase 2 Regulates Hepatic Fuel Metabolism.  This research is the focus of a newly funded HELIS Foundation grant. 
  • Performs all experiments to achieve the goal of this project, along with the Senior Advisor. Therefore, we cannot do anything for this project without this candidate to oversee and prepare the experiments for the project.      

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase Kinase 2 Regulates Hepatic Fuel Metabolism experience.
