Posting Summary
Provides a variety of information and communication technology support services for UVM students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include research and implementation of solutions of institution-wide impact; project leadership; general and specialized software and networking support and problem resolution; and helping clients learn about information technology through several modes of teaching and publication. Specialize in one or more areas, such as networking, hardware, a productivity software suite, an operating system, mobile devices, and specialized or advanced applications and serve as second-level support for Tech Team technicians and ETS technical staff and provides service coordination for the IT needs of students, faculty, staff, and users of computer labs. Provides third-level support and service coordination for decentralized information technology support staff. In addition to the incumbent’s office, work is performed at client sites, by telephone, in high-volume settings such as the Computer Clinic and Help Line, and through electronic communication. Cover shifts on the Help Line and in the Computer Clinic, and assist with coordination, planning and supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in a technology field and one year of experience required. Customer service skills required. Effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including ability to work successfully with technical and nontechnical personnel required.
Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to determine appropriate relative priorities of multiple support requests and projects, and to maintain communication with clients concerning expectations and timelines
Support experience with common workstation, server, and host applications (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, www) and operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) in an Internet-connected networked environment required. Expertise and support experience with software or networking in areas of specialization. Support experience with client network configuration. Network and information systems security: knowledge and practical application.
Support experience with technologies for remote network access.


Desirable Qualifications
-Teaching/Training experience and ability highly desirable.
Supervisory experience in an IT environment desirable.
IT certification, such as A+, MCSE, CCNA, etc.
Knowledge of University organization and IT-related resources. Experience on UVM-standard workstation, server, and host operating systems, application software, and networking hardware and software desirable.
Web publishing; Programming and scripting experience desirable
Other Information
Occasional extended/weekend hours required
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, A probationary period may be required
