Seeking self-motivated individual to work in a developmental glial biology lab of Dr. Hyun Kyoung Lee, Principal Investigator at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, US ( The HK Lee laboratory will focus on the identification of novel molecular signaling pathways and regulation in glial cell development. Based on these developmental studies, we will translate developmentally derived findings to associated disorders in an effort to develop therapeutic interventions. To achieve this goal, we will be utilizing molecular and cellular approaches in conjunction with classic genetic manipulation in both chick and mouse models and an array of CNS and PNS injury models; which ultimately will be applied to human neurological disorders. 

Job Duties

  • Maintains and breeding mouse colony.
  • Mouse behavior assays.
  • Conducts routine laboratory experiments.
  • Performs routine technical laboratory procedures.
  • Enters data into research database.
  • Operates laboratory equipment.
  • Participates in research grant preparation, manuscript writing and presentation of research results at professional conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise working with chicks and mice, and a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology.
