Job Description

Summary

We are looking for a research technician to provide techical assistance in conducting molecular and cellular research. Our research focuses on understanding how neural circuits in the mammalian brain wire up during development, and how they remodel during learning and memory. In particular, we study signal transduction pathways that control essential neurodevelopmental processes such as synapse formation and plasticity, dendritic growth, and neuronal migration. This position will primarily support our contributions to the Wellcome Trust 'The First 1000 Days' proposal studying the effects of gut microbiota on brain development. Our experiments utilize a wide variety of state-of-the-art moelcular, cellular, biochemical, genetic, and behavioral approaches. To join our research team, a successful candidate should be well organized, motivated, responsible, and cooperative.  

Job Duties

  • Performs tissue manipulations, microscopy, and quantitative morphological analysis under the supervision of a senior laboratory member and the laboratory head.
  • Performs experiments including confocal microscopy, immunostaining, biochemistry, and general lab duties.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a basic science or equivalent education. 
  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
