About the Opportunity
As a Neuroscientist, you will support the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute team. You will be part of an exciting collaborative effort working towards solutions for optimal neurological health. In this role, your efforts will provide both immediate and long-term impact to improve the lives of West Virginians and others across the globe.

The Institute has numerous unique imaging and ultrasound capabilities involving several first in human studies. Current priority research includes the role of ultrasound, transcranial magnetic stimulation, deep brain stimulation and blood-brain-barrier disruption in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, tremor, opioid-use-disorder, dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders. The Institute has invested significantly in the seamless integration of imaging, electronic health records, wearable technology, and motion capture technology to provide a unique resource to integrate these data elements to answer broad scale questions in key clinical neuroscience areas. The Institute is also poised with numerous global collaborators to share and exchange data and to address larger populations of clinical trials.

What you’ll do:
Participate in clinical study design and execution of MRI-based human studies – those of other members of the RNI as well as the develop new ones in conjunction with priority projects.
Use of state-of-art imaging technology to study the neuroscience of human brain connectivity in health and disease.
Work directly with the Executive Director of Clinical Translational Neuroscience.
Work independently and/or with a research team to carry out MRI-based studies looking at BOLD signal, tractography and resting state studies used in clinical translational neuroscience applications.
Data analysis and reporting/publishing of the projects.
Familiarity with image analytics and working knowledge with technical support teams.

Qualifications

PhD or MD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Biomedical Engineering, or similar science/engineering-related field or expected.
2+ years of experience with the following:
Clinical neuroscientist with expertise in understanding structural and functional connectivity in the brain.
Conduct applied human research projects.
Publishing and presenting scientific reports.
Experience working on and submitting federal awards (NIH, NSF, DOD).
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
Ability to create, annotate and maintain detailed research records.
Working knowledge of scientific research methods and Institutional Review Board policies and procedures.
Ability to effectively prepare and present information in one-on-one settings in addition to general scientific audiences, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
