Job Description

Summary

The part-time Statistician will oversee and participate in the collection, analysis and reporting of statistical data. Will apply standard statistical methods in conducting analyses and preparing reports.

Job Duties

  • Serves as a statistician in the BCM Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC).
  • Provides biostatistical support including data analysis, maintaining datasets, producing documentation for analysis programs and data dictionaries/codebooks.
  • Works directly with faculty to define research questions, develop statistical analysis plans, clean data, program analysis datasets and prepare text, tables and graphics describing results.
  • Interprets results and defines strengths and limitations for manuscripts and presentations. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, MIS, or related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, data science or related quantitative field with two to three years previous experience.
  • Knowledge or experience in database management and with experience in programming languages such as SAS and R.
  • Previous experience with analyzing data from clinical trials or observational studies.
  • Experience in longitudinal modeling and mixed models, causal inference methods, and/or machine-learning methods are desired but not required. 
  • Ability to understand clinical data to answer relevant questions.
